PowerQuest BootMagic is a legacy boot manager designed to make multi-boot setups straightforward on BIOS/MBR-based PCs. It installs a small loader that presents a startup menu, letting you choose among operating systems from the DOS, Windows 9x/Me/NT/2000 (and XP-era), OS/2, and Linux families. Its Windows- and DOS-based configuration tools allow you to add and rename entries, set a default OS with a timeout, and apply per-entry options such as hiding or unhiding partitions to prevent drive-letter conflicts. You can also password-protect the boot menu for basic security.

BootMagic was typically bundled with PartitionMagic and is intended for systems that use FAT or FAT32; while it can chain-load operating systems installed on NTFS or Linux ext partitions, the BootMagic files themselves must reside on a FAT primary partition. The software has been discontinued and does not support modern technologies such as UEFI firmware, GPT disks, or current versions of Windows. For contemporary hardware, consider newer boot managers or the boot tools built into Windows and most Linux distributions.

PowerQuest BootMagic is developed by PowerQuest. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 7.0 and 8.0. The names of program executable files are BMCFG32.EXE, PartIn.exe.
